Is Mario Williams injured, or is he not? That is the question the NFL is trying to answer with their investigation launched yesterday. Williams claims to have hurt his wrist in the final preseason game, and injury he says has been nagging him ever since. However, he has never been on the Bills injury report and has never missed any playing time.
Williams has had a dreadful first season in Buffalo so far, recording only 1 and a half sacks through five games. Yesterday he recorded two tackles and zero sacks against the San Francisco 49ers.
“The club says he is not injured. We will follow up this week to obtain a formal explanation,” said Greg Aiello, an NFL spokesperson. If he does have a wrist injury it would explain his lackluster play, but could mean the Bills would be in trouble. The NFL requires teams to put injured players on the injury report, even if they participate in all team activities.
