Bills vs. Vikings: Preview, Game Time and TV Schedule

The Bills and Vikings will square off tonight (Friday 8/17) at 8 p.m. Eastern. Here’s what to watch for:

TV/Radio: Nationwide, you can watch on NFL Preseason Live via the internet.

Playing Time for Starters: Expect the Buffalo offensive starters to go about 20 plays. Head coach Chan Gailey says he wants to get the starters a bit more work than last week, when the squad got only 15 snaps. The defensive starters will likely get 3-4 series, depending on how the game goes.

Running the Ball: After the Buffalo starters did not utilize a single running play last week, expect that to change tonight. “We have not run the ball as much as we wanted to in preseason and we made this week the week we’re going to come back and work on the run game quite a bit,” said Gailey.

“We’re all looking forward to having the opportunity to get more in our base offense than just working in the no huddle,” Gailey added. “So I think everybody is excited about that, but the running backs especially.”

Injuries: OUT for the Bills tonight: C Eric Wood, CB Terrence McGee, CB Justin Rogers, DT Torell Troup. Game-time decisions include RT Erik Pears, OT James Carmon and DT Kellen Heard. RB Johnny White has a gimpy ankle, but is likely to play.

#2 QB Battle: Vince Young will run with the second unit tonight, with Tyler Thigpen running the third team. Gailey is hoping the two each get around 20 snaps.

About the Vikings: Be sure to check out our Q & A with Dan Zinski from Fansided’s blog The Viking Age. The Vikings dropped their preseason opener 17-6 to San Francisco last week. The Vikes played without many of their more noteworthy players, including RB Adrian Peterson, DE Jared Allen, DT Kevin Williams, WR Percy Harvin, and CB Antoine Winfield. Peterson for sure out again tonight, as he recovers from offseason surgery.
