No, the “cut RB” is not Tashard Choice. I know, we’re all disappointed.
Instead, the Bills placed undrafted rookie Chris Douglas on the waived/injured list.
The new man around camp is former Pitt RB Zach Brown. Brown started out at Wisconsin in college before moving to the Panthers in search of more playing time. He rushed for a total of 1,488 yards in his career on 322 carries with 16 touchdowns. Brown actually worked out with the Bills during the team’s rookie mini-camp, but wasn’t offered a contract.
Brown will have some work to do to make the roster, with four guys ahead of him on the depth chart. He won’t be helped by a new rule included in the last collective bargaining agreement that says newly signed players can’t practice in pads for three days.
Brown should get quite a bit of work in preseason games if he stays healthy though, so he has that to look forward to. We’ll see how it plays out.
