How much fun has the draft been thus far? Pacing around my living room Thursday night after hearing that the Buffalo Bills pick was in, my friends were asking who I wanted the pick to be. My phone was blowing up with text messages asking the same. One of my friends asked who I thought the pick would be. I quickly replied to him “Floyd”, then I sent another text to him “but I really want Gilmore”. As soon as I hit send, the pick was announced followed by me screaming “YES!” while nearly waking my infant son.
The mere fact that the League couldn’t keep up with the teams selecting players was exciting. I have never seen a draft like it as it concluded in record time and with a record amount of trades.
Now the second day didn’t disappoint either. Anticipation was brewing as there was plenty of talent left on the board. I continued to see talented players fall and I was extremely happy to see Buffalo have their choice between two highly regarded LT prospects. Buffalo again couldn’t get the card in quick enough as the “Phone Booth” Cordy Glenn became the newest Buffalo Bill.
There is a reason that Buddy Nix does not execute draft day trades. In my opinion, he is just not good at it. Giving up a seventh round pick to move up two spot jumping over Jacksonville to select WR TJ Graham. Now I’m not going to criticize the selection, but I will question the need to jump in front of the Jaguars who have added three wide receiver’s thus far this off season. I guess you know the how the saying goes, to be a fly on the wall. I would have loved to be in the draft room for that series of events.
What does day three and our six draft picks hold for our Buffalo Bills? I have a feeling the surprises and the fun is not over yet.
