If you’re like me, you’re already hankering for Bills football to come back in September 2012. We’ll talk at length about this during the offseason, but I think the Bills have a real shot at the playoffs in 2012. (I know, I know…. but I said “a shot,” not “a guarantee.”
And if you’re like me, you’re already looking forward to Buffalo’s 2012 opponents, which were finalized after yesterday’s results. Buffalo will obviously have the typical six division games with home and away contests against the Jets, Dolphins, and Patriots. For the rest of the schedule, in 2012 the AFC East is matched up with the AFC South and the NFC West. Finally, Buffalo will take on the last-place teams from the other two AFC divisions with games against Cleveland and Kansas City.
Here’s the complete home-and-away breakdown:
Kansas City, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Seattle, St. Louis, Miami, New England, NY Jets
Cleveland, Houston, Indianapolis, Arizona, San Francisco, Miami, New England, NY Jets
Realistically? That’s a pretty manageable schedule. Granted, it’s tough to tell in January who will be good in October, but that home slate is just about as soft as you can get. Avoiding that brutal trip to Seattle helps. And at least three of those non-division road games (Cleveland, Indy, Arizona) are very winnable.
If Chan Gailey and the Bills can’t get over .500 with THIS schedule, it’s not going to happen and Gailey’s going to lose his job.
