BLD Picks NFL Games Against the Spread – Week 15

facebooktwitterreddit

Let’s be real: a lot of people love football because it’s the easiest and funnest sport to gamble on. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Personally, I’m too broke to gamble much (being a first-year public school teacher isn’t too lucrative), but I sure do watch a lot of football. I figure I should help* my loyal readers out with some gambling advice. Each week I’ll pick four games plus a fifth “Lock of the Week.”

*Help not guaranteed to be actually helpful.

With this Bills season totally collapsing and my fantasy team’s season now over (thanks for getting hurt, Fred Jackson) – gambling is really all your sap of an author has left to cheer for in 2011. That and rooting against teams I hate. (Can’t wait to watch you lose, Steelers).

Let’s see if I can win some money and end this season on a semi-positive note in one small way.

Packers (-14) over CHIEFS

I do think the Packers will lose before this season is over. It will absolutely not be this week. If the Chiefs keep any of their last three games closer than 20 points, I’ll be shocked. Sadly, the Tyler Palko era appears to be over. It was fun to bet against him while it lasted.

Seahawks (-3.5) over BEARS

I’m really conflicted over this one.  The Seahawks are red-hot, but aren’t great on the road. The Bears stink on offense, but have a good enough defense to hang around. I’m worried this will be a 13-10 game. But I’ll go with the ‘Hawks to keep it rolling.

EAGLES (-3) over Jets

Wait, the Eagles are actually favored here? Screw it, I’m picking them anyway. Finally a bit healthier, the Eagles are also somehow still alive in the playoff chase. I’ll say the Eagles win the rest of their games, finish 8-8, and once again sucker everyone into picking them to do well next year.

BILLS (+1.5) over Dolphins

My conscience won’t allow me to pick J.P. Losman on the road. Also, I think the Dolphins’ momentum has just about stalled out. And the Bills can’t close the year on the a nine-game losing streak, can they? (Don’t answer that.)

And now…

*Note: don’t take the word “Lock” too seriously.

Bengals (-3.5) over RAMS

The Rams are my new favorite team to gamble against. God, they suck. Poor Steven Jackson.

Last Week: 3-2

Overall: 37-30-3

Lock of the Week: 8-6
