Some scattered Bills news for you this evening:
- Second-year NT Torell Troup’s season is over. The Bills placed the big man from Central Florida on injured reserve today as the lower back problems that have apparently plagued him all year finally reached the tipping point and will require surgery. “They told us that surgery was needed,” said Bills coach Chan Gailey. “He hasn’t been 100 percent really at any point this year. It had been bothering him so he needed to go get it done.” I guess that could explain why Troup really hasn’t done much of note this season. To replace Troup on the roster, the Bills called up DL Lionel Dotson from the practice squad.
- WR Stevie Johnson is slightly less wealthy today after the NFL slapped him with a $10,000 fine for his TD celebration against the Jets Sunday that mocked Jets WR Plaxico Burress. I’ve already made my feelings on the subject clear.
- A familiar face is back with the Bills, as the team resigned LB Robert Eddins to the practice squad today. After a very impressive preseason, Eddins made the team as an undrafted rookie out of camp. Unfortunately, an injury landed him on IR before the first game. It turns out the injury wasn’t as serious as originally feared, so the Bills were forced to give him an injury settlement and make him available to other teams. No one picked him up, and so he was available to return to the Bills. Eddins showed flashes of being able to get to the QB, so he’s worth a look on this pass rush-deficient team.
- K Rian Lindell is starting to practice again. Likely this week or the next he’ll take his job back from replacement K Dave Rayner.
