The Bills were able to hold on today as they beat the Eagles 31-24. Fitz and the offense were running on all cylinders in the first half, but dropped off in the second half. This is a four (4) quarter game in which you have to play all four (4) quarters. Freddie Jackson rushed for 111 yards and had 85 yards receiving proving once again, he’s a force to be reckoned with. WR Donald Jones injured his ankle and according to Chan Gailey will be out awhile; therefore, Buffalo Native and former UB wideout Namaan Roosevelt got the nod and had a couple of nice catches for first downs. The o-line did yeomen’s work by keeping the Eagles’ Jason Babin-NFL’s sack leader-off of Fitz.
The Bills D gave up over 400 yards again, but intercepted Mike Vick four (4) times and stripped the ball away from Eagles wideout Jason Avant for the fifth turnover. George Wilson was all over the field today. It was probably his best game ever. Nick Barnett picked off Vick two (2) times and returned one (1) for a touchdown. This is the third straight week the Bills D returned an interception for a touchdown. I admit, I am not happy with the yardage the Bills are giving up, but I love the turnovers they’re creating and getting. Moreover, statistics do NOT win games.
The Bills are 4-1 and atop the AFC East. Next up, the G-Men (Giants) in the Meadowlands!!
