Another Bills victory means we need to award another game ball to Buffalo’s MVP of the game. Last week voters here at BLD selected RB Fred Jackson for the honor, and he’ll be a candidate again this week.
A ton of players worthy of praise after Buffalo’s huge Week 3 win over New England, but only one can get our game ball for the week.
Here are the candidates:
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (27 for 40 passing, 369 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT) - Fitz shook off two early interceptions (one not his fault, one on fourth-and-14) to play another masterful game. He’s on fire right now, no doubt.
RB Fred Jackson (12 carries, 74 yards, 1 TD; 5 catches, 87 yards) – The league’s most overlooked superstar continued to shine, torching the Patriots even with limited carries. His pass blocking was also outstanding.
WR Donald Jones (5 catches, 101 yards) - Jones was not good early, but he was spectacular in the second half. Jones, Stevie Johnson, and David Nelson are quite the potent trio at receiver.
S Bryan Scott (11 tackles, 1 INT) – Possibly forgotten in the hoopla of the second half was Scott’s incredibly important pick of Tom Brady late in the second quarter as the Pats were driving. If the Pats score there, it’s 28-7 or 24-7 at the half and probably too steep a hill to climb.
S George Wilson (11 tackles, 1 INT) – Wilson had just a tremendous interception of Brady in the end zone in the second half. Even Brady made a point to acknowledge how great of a play that was after the game.
