While the majority of off-the-field press coverage will rightfully focus on the absence of Ralph Wilson, another Bills mainstay was noticeably absent at this Sunday’s game. Where was Buffalo Elvis? This die-hard fan usually sits in the corner to the right of the entrance tunnel next to the almost-as-famous Chef duo. While fans murmurred that Mr. Wilson hadn’t missed a home opener in 50 years, some were equally surprised by the void left by the King of Rock & Roll.
This leaves two serious questions for BILL-ievers to ponder.
1. If the 12th man is truly valued, then why no notice of a long-time contributor to the Bills’ cause. All us colorful fans (Chefs, Daydream BILL-ievers, face-painters, body-painters, chicken-wing hat-wearers, etc.) should not only be concerned – but we need to let Elvis know we missed him and appreciate his dedication. Since the mainstream press likely will ignore this story, let’s rally and show Buffalo Elvis some much-deserved love! Comment on this post if you know anything more or want to tell Elvis we missed him.
2. You know how we never see Bruce Wayne and Batman in the same place. Well, I find it extremely interesting that the first home opener that Ralph Wilson missed coincidentally is the first game Elvis has missed in quite some time. A wig, shades, and a bedazzled jump suit could be millionaire Wilson’s very own bat cowl.
All kidding aside, we wish Mr. Wilson a speedy recovering from his hip surgery and we look forward to seeing him back “home” soon. As for Elvis, wherever you are, just know that your presence was missed and fans DO notice when one of our own is out of action.
Thank you, thank you very much.
