Two pieces of roster news to pass along:
- Secondly, the Bills have reportedly claimed TE Lee Smith off waivers. Smith was a fifth-round draft pick by the Patriots this year, but couldn’t beat out the Pats’ group of talented young tight ends for a job with New England. Since the Bills claimed him, he must be placed on the Bills’ 53-man roster, meaning someone (likely a TE) must be released. Undrafted rookie TE Zach Pianalto has to be the top contender to get the ax, although it wouldn’t shock me if veteran David Martin got the boot instead. Pianalto would be eligible for the practice squad if he were to get released.
