Report: Bills Release Michael Jasper

Michael Jasper

A person with supposed knowledge of the situation has informed the Associated Press that the Bills have released rookie DT Michael Jasper. The source claims the Bills intend on placing Jasper on the practice squad if he clears waivers.

Jasper was an instant sensation with Buffalo fans following the team drafting him in the seventh round, capturing everyone’s imagination thanks to his tremendous combination of size (390 pounds) and athleticism. Unfortunately, it appears the transition from playing guard at tiny NAIA school Bethel to playing defensive tackle in the NFL didn’t happen overnight.

Jasper is a great guy – he gave us an awesome interview a few weeks ago – and I wish him all the success in the world. I do hope he makes it back to Buffalo on the practice squad, but I’ll still be a fan even if another team snatches him up.
