According to WGRZ, the first member of Buffalo’s 2011 draft class to sign an NFL contract is DT Michael Jasper. Jasper, Buffalo’s final pick in this year’s draft, has become something of a folk hero around Buffalo thanks to his amazing backstory. If you haven’t heard, Jasper is an enormous man (he played at 430 pounds or so his senior season at tiny Bethel University), who at the urging of a Bills scout “slimmed down” to 370 pounds. That itself is impressive, but the man is also an amazing athlete. In case you never saw his training video, check it out:
Wow. The man can move.
Jasper also did a quick interview with BuffaloBills.com after his signing, which you can watch here. There’s not much of substance in it, but it’s certainly worth a watch, as Jasper comes off as extremely likeable. If this guy makes the team, he’s instantly going to be one of Buffalo’s most popular players. We’ll definitely be tracking him throughout camp.
