You won't see Corey McIntyre doing this very often.

Post-Draft Roster Analysis – Fullback

Now that the dust of the 2011 Draft has settled, it’s time to analyze the current state of Buffalo’s roster. We’ll be taking a look at one position at a time. Today: FB.

Players Under Contract (2): Corey McIntyre, Jehuu Caulcrick

Possibly Departing Free Agents: None.

1) Corey McIntyre

2010 stats: 4 carries, 5 yards, 1 TD; 4 catches, 32 yards; 15 tackles

McIntyre will be entering his fourth year with the Bills in 2011, and I think he’ll last for at least a few more. While he’s not really a big part of the offense (as his eight touches in 2010 attest) he’s a serviceable blocking fullback and a very good special teams player.

It’s clear the Buffalo front office is pleased with McIntyre’s work, as he was rewarded with a two-year contract extension in September of 2010 that put him among the league’s highest-paid fullbacks.

It’d be pretty shocking to see McIntyre not listed as Buffalo’s starting fullback on the opening day of the 2011 season.

2) Jehuu Caulcrick

2010 stats: 1 carry, 2 yards

I listed Caulcrick as a running back during my analysis of that position, but he could be a fit here. Caulcrick’s a large man who has played some fullback during his other stops around the league. If McIntyre gets hurt, Caulcrick could get the nod.

In any case, Caulcrick has a shot to stick around as a fourth running back/second fullback, especially in case of an injury.
