Bills legend Thurman Thomas is giving back to the region that embraced him during his playing days. Thomas is currently working with the Fuel Up to Play 60 program for two years. The program promotes in-school nutrition and physical activity and is sponsored by the National Dairy Council and the NFL. Thomas has been visiting schools in Western New York and the Syracuse area for the past two years to help promote the program.
“I’ve really been stressing the importance of eating breakfast in the morning to the kids,” Thomas said. “It gives you the energy to get going. It helped me when I was a growing up and it also helped me when I was playing for the Buffalo Bills.”
It’s good to see Thomas, who moved back to Buffalo with his wife and four kids in 20o7, staying involved in the Buffalo area. If you’re curious, Thomas also runs a sports training facility and enjoys bashing President Obama on Twitter in his spare time.
