Even though the Bills are out of the playoffs, that doesn’t mean I don’t have an opinion about them. Here is how I see the games shaking out on Saturday:
New Orleans Saints @ Seattle Seahawks
I have heard all the reasons why this game is going to be closer than everybody thinks. New Orleans has no runners who can run between the tackles. New Orleans is the most blitz-happy team in the league and Matt Hasselbeck is one of the most effective passers at beating the blitz. Seattle has a great home field advantage, and perhaps the loudest outdoor stadium in football…I don’t care.
The Saints are a much better team that came out of a much better division. The Seahawks are not a good football team. I am convinced that the Bills would have won that division had they been in it. You might say I’m biased, but I watched the Rams play at the Seahawks for the division and that was a brutal game to watch.
Prediction: Saints win and cover the spread, 31-14.
New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts
This is a difficult game to call. On the one hand, the Colts are banged up. Peyton Manning is throwing to a bunch of receivers the great Bill Polian found on the street. The Colts have been gritting it out by the skin of their teeth against teams that are not that good.
On the other hand, the Jets are also a little banged up. Mark Sanchez hasn’t thrown a pass in a couple of weeks. Their once vaunted defense has been vulnerable at times, giving up 38 points to Jay Cutler. Peyton Manning has not lost to Rex Ryan in a meaningful game.
Prediction: The Jets got a little healthier last week. Peyton Manning doesn’t have enough help. Jets win 26-21.
