Matt’s Top Ten: Worst Personnel Decisions of the Decade

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

In the spirit of the New Years, I wanted to take a look back on positive aspects of the franchise since 2000.  Considering we haven’t been to the playoffs since  January ’00, that list quickly became me trying to identify the moves that earned us that distinction. Here is my top ten (or bottom ten depending on your perspective) personnel decisions since 2000.

Pro Bowl Players Announced

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’d like to take some time to congratulate the Bills’ Pro Bowlers for 2011…and I’m done. The Bills were shut out for the 2011 game, which is not totally surprising since they are 4-11 and are short on talent. Some players on the team did have good seasons, but I don’t really think you can be too upset with any Bills being omitted. Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown for 3000 yards and 23 tds. Stevie Johnson has 77 catches for 1001 yards and 10 tds. However, when you look at the players who made the team ahead of them (QBs Brady, [...]

Bills Looking To End Season With Momentum

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

If your like me, you were hoping that the New York Jets would be heading into the final game of the season against the Buffalo Bills in a must win situation in order to make the playoffs.  But unfortunately,  the Jets have already clinched a playoff spot and find themselves backing into the playoffs. How long will the Jets starters will play remains to be seen, but if I was Coach Rex, I would keep them in there as long as I could so they could find some rhythm. No matter who takes the field for the Jets, I see [...]

Reality Check

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

In a game that can only be described as Murphy’s Law of Football, everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the Bills in their 3-34 throttling at the hands of New England Sunday. The Bills were a whopping -7 in turnover differential and while the Patriots are the league’s best team, it certainly didn’t help our chances coughing it up at that rate. As tough as Sunday was to endure, lessons can still be learned from games like this.  This game is a way of seeing how we can stack up against the premier team in the league [...]

Christmas Wish List

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

I know that everyone loves cliched blog posts, so I figured I’d do the honors and give my Buffalo Bills wish list. Hopefully Santa will be a lot kinder in 2010 than he has been the previous…decade.

Bills Falling Lower In Draft Order

AUTHOR: | IN: Around The League | COMMENTS: None Yet

Don’t get me wrong, I love winning, and my Sundays are a lot more peaceful when the Bills pull of a victory. But that’s just my opinion, if you ask the next guy, I’m sure he hates seeing the Bills win these “meaningless” games and essentially kick themselves down lower and lower in the 2011 Draft. If the season ended today, here is what the draft order would be: 1)Panthers 2)Broncos 3) Bengals 4) Cardinals 5) Lions 6) Bills Out of those five teams before the Bills, I can see the Panthers, Bengals & Cardinals be in line to draft QB [...]

Game Ball – Week 15

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Buffalo Bills have won 4 out of their last 6 and are showcasing a much improved fundamental football team than the one that took the field when the season began. What made this victory even sweeter is that the Bills eliminated the Miami Dolphins from playoff contention! So I ask you, who deserves the game ball for week 15?

Chan is the Man with a Plan

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Last January, Thomas Chandler Gailey and Buddy Nix came up with a plan to rebuild a moribund franchise.  They would build through the draft, while supplementing the roster with less-than-marquee, free agent acquisitions.  Chan came in with a reputation of making the most out of what he had.  Buddy has been scouting and evaluating talent for years.  In Chan, Nix tried to find a head coach that could tap the potential of the players he brought in.  To that point, 14 games in, the Bills are probably the most competitive 4-win team in recent memory. For all of his faults, [...]
