The Buffalo Bills added TE Shawn Nelson to their active roster today.
Shawn Nelson, a 4th round draft pick by the Bills, was previously suspended four games for violating the league’s policy on substance abuse. Nelson also needed an extra week before being activated to fully heal from surgery to fix a groin injury.
Nelson, who has yet played up to his potential, could be a nice threat for Bills QB Fitzpatrick. With the Offensive Line still a work in progress, a good pass catching TE could be a scrambling QB’s best friend.
To make room for Nelson, the Bills parted ways with linebacker Chris Ellis, a former third-round pick who never really adapted to the 3-4 defensive scheme.
