Bills Squish Fish, Defeat Dolphins 31-14
The entire season the Bills have been atrocious in the fourth quarter. This week they turned that theme on its head scoring 24 points in the final quarter rallying to defeat the Miami Dolphins in Buffalo. Terrell Owens, who has finally shown up as T.O. both on the field and off, said regarding Ralph Wilson’s coaching change, “Well he’s two weeks too late. I’ve been wanting to be aggressive all year.” Owens had 5 receptions for 96 yards and 1 touchdown in the game, including a 51 yard catch from Ryan Fitzpatrick. While newly appointed coach Perry Fewell was formerly [...]
Kelly Calls Out Bills QB Problem
Jim Kelly, arguably the greatest quarterback in Bills history, might as well have just come out and said it. Since he left, no quarterback for the Bills has been been worth a damn. Since Jim Kelly retired from the league, the Buffalo Bills have started nine different QBs. As he told the USA Today, the Bills struggles will continue until there is a franchise guy under center. “You look for a guy with good character, good leadership ability and good arm strength — and a guy who doesn’t come from California,” Kelly said, according to the report. Atop his list? [...]
Bills Have Productive Meeting With Shanahan
Bills Chief Operating Officer, Russ Brandon, met with former Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan Monday evening and this morning. This meeting comes only days after the Buffalo Bills were apparently turned down by former Steelers coach Bill Cowher, and less than two weeks following the departure of Dick Jauron. Brandon, who came well prepared to the meeting according to Shanahan, delivered a persuasive presentation on why coaching the Bills could be an attractive opportunity. Both sides left the seven hour meeting with the conclusion that they would continue to take things slowly, one step at a time. “We had [...]
Schottenheimer Debunks Rumors, Will Not Coach Bills
As rumors continue to circulate as to who will coach the Bills next year, it appears as though there is another name we can cross off the list: Marty Schottenheimer. A coach with 200 wins who emerged with a victory 61.3% of the time, Schottenheimer led the Browns, Redskins, Chiefs, and most recently the Chargers over the course of his career. Criticized by some for a less-than-stellar playoff record and a failure to win “the Big Game,” others take a different spin on “Schottie’s” career. Many would argue that Marty’s teams often overachieved. In other words, they would claim that [...]
Cowher Declines Interview for Bills Job
Ralph Wilson extended an invitation to former Steelers coach Bill Cowher to lead the Bills in 2010. According to a source at ESPN, Cowher has declined the offer saying that he is happy in his current broadcasting role. However, Cowher did intimate that he may look into offers once the season concludes. Despite this, he has been very selective in taking interviews in the past; surely with the knowledge that he could coach for any team in the NFL. With this in mind, Buffalo seems an unlikely candidate even if Wilson was willing to pay top dollar. A scenario that [...]
The T.O. Show Arrives, Bills Lose in Final Drive
Bud Adams kind ad in the Buffalo News wasn’t enough to push the Bills over the Jaguars on Sunday as Buffalo was defeated 15–18 in a heartbreaker. David Gerrard, who struggled through the first three quarters, mounted a game-winning touchdown drive capped by a pass to Mike Sims-Walker with 56 seconds remaining. With an impressive 155.8 quarterback rating in the fourth (as compared with 54.1 through the first three quarters) Gerrard led the Jaguars to their third consequtive win; the last two both coming via game-winning drives. The Bills did an admirable job stopping the talented running back Maurice Jones-Drew, [...]
Who Will Coach The Bills Next Year?
“Cleanup on aisle 3!” Now that Jauron is out, and Perry Fewell has been appointed interim head coach, it begs the question: “Who will coach the Bills in 2010?” The Bills have a sordid history of promoting internally from their coordinator corps; Greg Williams, Wade Phillips, most recently. With Fewell in the driver’s seat and the Bills still coughing up $6 million over the next two years to fulfill Dick Jauron’s contract money clearly becomes an issue here. If the Bills think frugal, it is likely that Fewell will keep the job if he is able to keep the ship [...]
One last motivational poster for old Dicky boy
I know its been a very long time since I last put something on here…so with the joyous news that I will no longer have to deal with Dick Jauron anymore, here is one last motivational poster on the subject. Maybe he can use it in his resume/portfolio when he goes for his next job.
