I left McFadden’s in NYC Sunday around 4pm – along with about 500 other die-hard Bills Backers – completely nauseous. And it wasn’t because of the unlimited beer and buffalo wings. The Bills put out another sickening display, losing to the formerly winless Browns 6 – 3. And for those of us lucky enough to be watching, we would be lying to call it a defensive struggle. The worst part? The walk of shame as young kids in Giants, Eagles, and every other jersey imaginable didn’t even laugh as Bills fans walked past, with heads down. They just stared … and understood.
Here is the silver lining Buffalo: Its time for another NHL season and another team to look forward to disappointing us. Make sure you check out Tim Reddinger and Fansided’s Sabres Blog – SabreNoise. The Sabres already have had a taste of something that the Bills are almost mathematically certain to go another season without — a winning record. Our hockey team, already 2 – 0, boasts the same great city we all love, the same great food, the same freezing atmosphere, all without Dick Jauron and the leagues most (formerly) over-rated special teams unit.
More good news for local Buffalo football players both past and present. The Bills will likely announce this week an open try-out for anyone in the greater Buffalo area able to fit into a jersey who also might be able to tackle, well, anyone. With Kawika Mitchell and Marcus Buggs added to a Injured Reserve list already longer than the one Santa keeps for “Naughty” Raiders fans, the Bills front office will be scouting the following individuals:
- Anyone who is on, or was cut from, a current Buffalo-area High School team.
- The Bills’ Elvis Guy
- Anyone seen able to catch a ball during tail-gating prior to the Jets game in New York.
- Frat guys at UB, Fredonia, and Buff State
- Season-Ticket Holders (may have first shot as they have the rawest deal)
- That guy you see every week at Mighty Taco
If you or someone you know is on this list, please let Dick Jauron know you are interested in a tryout.
