Though the Cleveland Football Browns come into Buffalo winless this week, they have faced quality opponents in Minnesota, Denver, and Baltimore. They also choked in a game that should have been theirs last week against the Bengals.
Derek “Checkdown” Anderson will likely look comfortable against a banged up secondary, and we will just have to see how Kawika Mitchell fares at MLB following the position switch. If the Bills aren’t able to keep RB Jerome Harrison in check – Harrison is filling in for injured (and aging) RB Jamal Lewis – it will spell trouble.
Buffalo’s offensive line, which held up much to everyone’s surprise, has fallen among the five worst in the League. The young line has allowed Trent “Even More Checkdown” Edwards to be sacked 16 times – the most in the AFC.
Keys for Buffalo this week will be to establish the running game early. Last week, the Bills tandem rushing attack was held to just 50 yards. This week it will have to be better, especially if Trent and the receivers continue to struggle down-field. Keeping the crowd in it is usually never a problem at the start of a game. We all know the power of a good tailgate at The Ralph. If the Bills can score early and keep momentum it should be a good day.
