Lynch’s Suspension Appeal Denied
Marshawn Lynch will remain sidelined for the first three games of the 2009 NFL Season.
The suspension begins on Sept. 5 and ends on Sept. 28, just after the Bills play the Saints for their third contest of the year. The ban also includes all practices and non-game activities during that time, so Bills fans will still have a chance to see Marshawn in preseason practices and games before the fifth.
Marshawn was arrested in Culver City, Calif., on Feb. 11, when police searched a parked car Lynch was in and found a 9mm semiautomatic handgun in a backpack in the trunk, along with a small amount of marijuana. The suspension came about from the subsequent guilty plea by Lynch in March to a misdemeanor gun charge. No drug charges were filed. He was sentenced to 80 hours of community service and three years probation.
This is not Marshawn’s first run-in with the law, but it seems as though this time the blow has hit home. At least he has said as much. I can only hope it’s true for his sake and for the organization. No team wants to be known as the next Bad-Boy Bengals and the Bills are certainly pushing their luck.
