With the 121st overall pick in this years draft, the Bills selected TE Shawn Nelson from Southern Mississippi.
A surprise find in the fourth round, Shawn Nelson was pegged as one of the better tight ends in the draft. Bills have filled one of their remaining needs with a quality player. Nelson may not see a lot of touches with Evans and Owens owning the offensive show this year, and needs to work on his blocking to help the wideouts, but is a great edition to the team.
He is no Pettigrew, but the Bills have definitely done well if what amounts to what I like to call the “usable” portions of the draft. The Bills select again at 147, 183, and 220. There is a good chance those positions will stay Bills selections, unless packages deals for Parrish and Kelsay are made, but its unlikely the Bills will let those two guys go for such late picks.
