February 18, 1997 — BILLS MAKE A TRADE FOR A QB
The Buffalo Bills made a move to upgrade the depth at QB by trading their third-round pick in the 1997 draft to the Oakland Raiders for Billy Joe Hobert.

Hobert played two games for the Bills before heading to New Orleans to finish out the season.  While with the Bills for two games he threw for 17/30, no touchdowns and two interceptions.  Hobert found himself in New Orleans after openly stating he was not ready to play for the Bills, prompting the team to release him.

The third round pick they gave up?  Offensive Guard Tim Kohn.  The Bills may have looked good with this trade as Kohn was with Oakland for the 1997 and 1999 seasons, and played in no games.
