Buffalo’s Free Agent Problems well known
Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel summed up the Buffalo Bills free agency woes in a single paragraph: Former Jets receiver Laveranues Coles’ first visit was to Buffalo, which is a clear sign he’s at a “SHOW ME THE MONEY” phase in his life. Actually, has Coles ever stopped being in that phase? I covered Coles when he was at FSU, before Dillardgate got him booted, and it was always about the money with him. Raise your hand if you’ve been to Buffalo and actually want to go back? The Dolphins do have some interest in the 31 year old proven [...]
Bills sign free agent Center
The Buffalo Bills announce today that they have signed unrestricted free agent C Geoff Hangartner. Hangartner was the 5th round selection by the Carolina Panthers in the 2005 draft. This makes the second signing by the Bills in as many days since free agency has started.
Two surprising stories
Two things that have really surprised me in going over free agency notes: Jabari Greer is now visiting other teams, he is reportedly in Detroit checking things out. He is looking to be in the $8 million dollar range, and the last report that anyone saw was a Bills offer at about half that amount. I guess the “further” discussions have not gotten the Greer camp any closer to the Bills camp where numbers are concerned. The Bills have offered Jason Peters a new contract as promised. Wait, so you mean holding out and wasting a season gets a new [...]
Bills sign veteran QB
Not every visit to One Bills Drive this year is going to end with a nice press conference before a players decides on playing elsewhere. The Buffalo Bills have announced that they have signed free agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick was drafted in 2005 by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round. After playing only five games over two years for the Rams, he played in 13 contests last year for the Cincinnati Bengals. While this is not the seasoned veteran who is going to help Trent Edwards develop, maybe it will give the Bills the ability to have [...]

Bills go 0-2 with Fred Taylor
He made a convincing media pitch when he visited earlier this week, but the call of the championship has landed coveted RB Fred Taylor in New England. 11 years ago, Wade Phillips traded the Bills pick that would have ended up being Fred Taylor to Jacksonville for quarterback Rob Johnson. I can’t get to upset though, as I figured Taylor’s visit to Buffalo was probably prompted by the fact that his plane probably had a decent layover in Buffalo en route to Boston.
Bills Free Agent Notes
The Buffalo Bills are busy leading up until the 12:01 AM start to free agency. They have tendered offers to noticeable players Keith Ellison, Fred Jackson and George Wilson. They have also made offers to QB Matt Baker, DE Copeland Bryan, LB Blake Costanzo, RB Bruce Hall, long snapper Ryan Neill, TE Derek Schouman and TE Jonathan Stupar. All of those players were restricted or exclusive rights free agents, and these tendered offers guarantee that the Bills are the only team they can play for. Third string quarterback Gibran Hamdan and DB Dustin Fox were also signed to new deals. [...]
Dockery and Royal cut
The Buffalo Bills slimmed the roster down today, cutting Derrick Dockery and Robert Royal. The Bills have not released a statement. While still taking a cap hit for both players, the Bills have freed up room on the roster to help bring in players that are going to be greater impact players.
