Buffalo Mourns on Monday of Sundays Mistakes

So this morning we all have to get up, dust ourselves off, and head back to work.  Thankfully I took today off.  Fans across Western New York are wondering what happened to the Bills team that started 4-0 and 5-1.  I should remind everyone that I have never been a fan of JP Losman or Dick Jauron, so comments about either should not be looked upon as “post loss rantings.”

Why the Bills lost to the Jets -

Jauron does not have the emotional fortitude to lead a team.  The Bills were penalized twice on Sunday for too many men on the field (defense).  If I were Jaruon, or if any other coach would have been on the Bills sidelines, someone was going to get yelled at over that one.  Really, too many men, twice in one game….heads would have rolled.  Instead Jauron just stood there, tight lipped, whispered into his headset, come on guys, we gotta play football. I still have the taste of vomit in my mouth from when I got word they signed him to a three year deal.

I think having JP around is getting under Trent Edwards skin.  Look how easily he was called upon by the Bills last year to step in and be the number one guy.  Don’t you think he doesnt realize it could happen again.  You wanted the kid to have confidence, you should have gotten rid of JP Losman.

Protect the football. How many times have we seen miscommunication between Edwards and Lynch on a handoff.  At least twice that I can remember, both of them almost turned into turnovers.   Edwards is telegraphing his moves, because he keeps resorting to the same play time and time again.  Granted the Bills have injuries, but come on Edwards, there are ten guys on the field, get more creative than the three yard dump pass over the line.

My feelings on the season from the get go were optimistic, the Bills had a young QB who wanted to win, they spent money on the line, there was a firm hand against Peters want for more money.  But only week 1 really had me celebrating.  Close games against some of the worst teams in the league, and now a winless streak into the AFC/AFC East portion of the schedule.  Your going to have to convince me better than 5-3 (0-2) that we are playoff ready.

Couldn’t agree more about Jauron - his performance and the Bills signing him. As well as the team has done under him (I use the term ‘well’ relative to a team that hasn’t been to the playoffs in a decade), he doesn’t inspire anything from anybody with the exception of a slap in the face to make sure he’s awake. Between the penalties, the terrible timing for a fake punt call,  going for it on 4th-and-1 deep in Jets territory… Jauron’s list of “It’s my first day” moments reads too long for someone who’s been in the game for much longer than that.

Gotta disagree about JP though. Two C’s should take care of a third one: Contract and Captain give Edwards plenty of Confidence. He wears the C and he was the starter well before the season got to Rochester. He doesn’t have JP’s history of mistakes and he’s got the city behind him. I don’t think he worries about JP at all. I don’t think JP’s a bad quarterback, just a terrible fit for this team and that’s what separates Trent. JP should be gone next season not for Trent’s sake, but so you don’t have a backup quarterback who’s so disgruntled that if and when he is called upon, he’s ineffective. I’d blame the O-line before a guy that never sees the field.
