First Half

Posted by: Zach

Wow. The first half of this game has been way to sloppy. For a team that should be leading the AFC East, and another trying not to be the joke of the league again, there have been a lot of penalties that have really kept the offenses alive at key points of certain drives.

The first half has been typical Buffalo football, flashes of brilliance, but a couple of rookie mistakes by key personnel have allowed the Dolphins to stay in the game. If Buffalo is going to win this game, the offense needs to put a score on the board. We learned last year that you cannot win football games on strictly field goals. The Bills have finally started to run the ball better, not they need to put the pass and the rush together, and the Bills will be fine. Thankfully teh Bills are a second half team, but with New England holding a small lead at the half over the Rams, the Bills need a win to stay one game up on the Pats.

Miami is not out of this game, yet, which was to be expected against Buffalo, they cannot seem to find away to put teams away before the final whistle. If the Phins can stop the Bills on the first drive of the second half, they may be able to build some momentum (a la Bills vs. Cardinals).

It is interesting to note that two of the longest NFL streaks were broken today.  Miami stopped a streak of 26 straight opening drives without a score, getting a touchdown on their 27th try.

Buffalo snapped an NFL record 108 games without a blocked field goal.

It is going to be interesting to see what the second half holds.
