So I meant to jump on yesterday and put this on, but WGR 550 is hosting a radiothon today (and yesterday) to support Jim Kelly’s Hunter Hope foundation. Become a Hunter Hero today by donating $12 dollars a month for one year by calling 716 634 HOPE (716 634 4673). Being the proud father of a newborn myself, (well she’s almost four months now), I can say that universal screening on newborns is a fantastic idea, and may help families if health problems can be identified early.
Listening to WGR this morning I would like to bring attention to a charity that was started on a Buffalo Bills message board, and has a coast to coast following. Local Bills fans are now encouraged to help grow this great charity. The Ball Burglars.
The Ball Burglars are ordinary Buffalo Bills fans united by an extraordinary purpose: helping sick children. We want turnovers so badly that we’re paying for them! We’ve put a bounty on the football! (After all, it does say Wilson on it! The football belongs to Ralph.)
Our members make pledges, $1, $2, whatever they choose, for every turnover that the Bills Defense or Special Teams get! We also charge double for any takeaway returned for a TD!
If your reading this and its past the timetable of the radiothon by WGR 550 and you still would like to contribute in a fun way, check out www.ballburglars.com – the only registered charity that calls themselves by a felony charge!- the basic principle is members of the charity – Bills fans, or people who want to help the Bills and Bills Alumni promote the charities (Hunter’s Hope is not the only charity they help, but it is there favorite).
The basic premise of the group is this, members pledge any amount they are comfortable, and can pay in advance or pay at the end of the season, and the donation is based on the number of turnovers/takeaways the Bills have during the season! It’s like fantasy football meets fan charity!
***I should note that you do not have to donate the $12 dollars for 12 months….if you can donate more, please feel free, if you cannot make that much of a commitment but would still like to donate, please still call in and make whatever donation you can.
