Return Specialist Controversy?

Granted, its only pre-season, but:

Are we in the midst of having a return specialist controversy here in Buffalo? Rookie Cornerback Leodis McKelvin is turning up the heat on McGee and Parrish. And the starters better mind their special teams jobs or risk losing them.

McKelvin almost broke free and returned a punt for six against the Redskins. He returned a kickoff against the Steelers 95 yards to help the Bills beat the men of Steel Town. His collegiate return stats show he is a proven threat when returning kicks.

This is going to open the door for a controversy, because neither McGee (kickoff returner with five career returns for six) nor Parrish ( punt return league leader in average return yards of 16.3 and two career scores) is a slouch in that position.

I think this is exactly what the Bills need at every position to be better. Edwards does not have to play his best football this year, because he knows JP is done after the season (from what I have seen Edwards does not have a slack off mode though, the kid is a competitor). I can bet you though that once JP is out of town and they either sign or draft a new backup, that Edwards needs to mind his x’s and o’s because he really has done nothing to cement the starter job himself.
With Peters out of the lineup indefinitely, the Bills have the same problem at a lineman position. There is no clear cut starter - yet. These guys can help the Bill’s cause against Peters by stepping up and handling the position, because they have to know that they are replaceable, as soon as Peters ends his holdout.

it’s league not lead,  there is no starter contraversy at the linebacker position.  Peters paying fines for the next three years is whats going to make him end his holdout.  he has no ground in this situation.  And i’m pretty sure the backup linemen know they are replaceable.

I’m all for Mclovin in as the KR/PR - I think he’ll bring excitement for us all each time the ball is kicked to us.  The guy has got blazing speed.
