Much like anyone that comes to this blog to read my opinions, comment on my opinions, and offer their own opinions are Bills fans. They want their team in Buffalo. I think the Bills are taking a great step in moving occasional games to the Toronto market in the hopes of luring Toronto based businesses to the Buffalo area via suite holders, vendors, etc. What we need to do is cooperate with the city of Toronto to make this more than just a honeymoon, and a long lasting marriage. I think this can be accomplished by truly marrying the cities of Buffalo and Toronto together.
It has been known in the Buffalo area for awhile that the relationship between the Cleveland Indians and the Buffalo Bisons is coming to an end. Several months back in the Buffalo News, the Toronto Blue Jays were rumored as being one of the suitors for the Bisons big league club. The Buffalo Bills, if they want to stay in Buffalo, should be happily promoting this marriage. Heres my plan:
1. Marry the Toronto Blue Jays with the Buffalo Bisons.
2. Give the city of Toronto a preseason and a regular season one Bills game a season. Any playoff games will be played in Buffalo however.
3. Bring the Toronto Argonauts to Buffalo for one game a year. Deals could also be made to swap regular season ball games between
4. Gather interest in the Toronto area for business who want to advertise/visit Buffalo on a regular basis.
5. Using the combined revenue from what the Bills have now, what Toronto has to offer (both from the Rogers Center Group, the Argonauts, and the Blue Jays and build a new stadium downtown that would house both the Bills and the Bisons.
Where would you put the new stadium? Right on the same spot that Dunn Tire Park is now. Both Ralph Wilson Stadium and Dunn Tire Park are dinosaurs compared to their counterparts in other cities. Bringing all that attention to the downtown area will be good for the revitalization of the downtown area and can be worked in conjunction with the Buffalo Creek Casino (pending legal battle), and the building up of the waterfront.
